On November 17, 2021, an exhibition of one painting by L. F. Lagorio "In the Crimea Mountains" (1852) opens at the main exposition of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (104 Lenina St.).
Crimea is an inexhaustible storehouse of plots for many generations of Russian artists, among whom the most famous are the great seascape painter Ivan Aivazovsky and his students, among whom was Lev Lagorio. Often, their work is combined into the Cimmerian school, whose traditions were formed in the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The collection of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts contains a fine example of the romantic Crimean landscape.
The work of LF Lagorio "In the mountains of the Crimea" entered the museum from the private collection of the doctor and art lover NI Vasiliev. It was painted by the artist after completing his studies at the Imperial Academy of Arts. The young master was especially impressed by the views of the Caucasus, where he was sent as a pensioner of the Academy. He was fascinated by the lush nature and the bright sun, which created amazing effects of radiance on the mountain peaks. Then the independent role of light will become an important feature of his paintings. He will apply his creative find in the work on the views of his native Tavria, which in the future will become a real hallmark of the talented landscape painter.
The exhibition will run until January 14, 2022.
