As a result of fierce fighting, the Red Army managed to defeat the enemy and successfully complete the operation. However, the war was not over yet. For two long years bloody battles took place on the Kaluga land, and only on September 17, 1943, the whole region was liberated from the fascist conquerors.

The drawing "The Taking of Kaluga" by Dmitry Mikhailovich Tarkhov is a genuine document of an eyewitness to the events, because during the Great Patriotic War the artist traveled to the battlefield in Kaluga and Tula on the instructions of the political department of the Red Army.
