April 21, 2015 at 17.00 the Russian Academy of Arts in the halls of the Art Gallery at the address: st. Prechistenka, house 19 presents the exhibition “Images of Memory” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The exhibition will be held from April 14 to May 17, 2015.
Holding an exhibition dedicated to this great date is a tribute to deep respect and gratitude to the war veterans who, at the cost of their own lives, defended the country and won the Victory together with all the people.
The exhibition included works by young artists who reveal their idea of that heroic, fateful time for the whole world. These artists are united in their conviction that the theme of the Great Patriotic War, which left its tragic mark on the fate of almost every family and caused great suffering to people, can not leave anyone indifferent and will never lose its exciting power. That is why, after 70 years, films appear, performances are staged, paintings are written about the war, which has become "the memory of our blood." Victory triumphs and sorrows for the dead, the pain of mothers who saw their sons to the front, and the years of post-war devastation were reflected in works of various genres and a figurative structure. Their works are marked by expressive compositional solutions, rich color palette and vivid figurative characteristics of characters, strong and courageous people.
These artists are recent graduates of the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I.E. Repina. They graduated from creative workshops of monumental painting under the guidance of Professor A.A. Mylnikov, Professor S.N. Repin and V.A. Mylnikova. Among them, graduates with honors, some continued their creative and teaching activities in their native institute. They are members of the Union of Artists of Russia and St. Petersburg Union of Artists, for participation in Russian and foreign exhibitions awarded medals and diplomas. Their works are in collections of art museums in Russia and in foreign collections.
Each of these artists in his own way approached the disclosure of this exciting topic. For Alexander Tyschenko (Tashkent), the theme of huge human losses that the war brought to many families, as well as to his house and his relatives, is especially close. Four brothers of his grandmother fought near Stalingrad, and only one returned home. Therefore, he created the painting "Memory", which he dedicated to his grandfathers, all the soldiers and soldiers who defended the country, fallen and alive.
Grandfather of Alexander Novoselov (Leningrad) participated in the capture of Berlin, and another grandfather and five other relatives died in the fighting. Therefore, his painting "Victory" is dedicated to the memory of all soldiers of different nationalities, fates, ages who courageously fought for their homeland and won the long-awaited Victory. Joy and tears, triumph and grief of losses - all merged into a single picture of the end of the war.

For Vadim Kazhdayev (Tskhinval), the fate of one Ossetian family became the most tragic example of the scourge of war. The symbol of the huge sacrifice made on the altar of the Fatherland was the death of the seven beloved sons of the mother, not only raising her sons, but also putting the unbending spirit of real warriors into them. In his painting “Roads of War”, the artist showed the oncoming movement of two powerful human streams, thanks to which the Victory was won, these are rear workers and soldiers who did not spare their lives for a great purpose.
Ilya Ovcharenko (Saratov), in his work “Summer of 41 Years,” strove to show the inhuman essence and unnaturalness of the war by the example of a simple peasant family, when in one part it ruthlessly burst into the usual way of life of people, bringing a lot of grief and loss. The figure of a soldier leaving his home is reflected in a bursting window glass, symbolizing the soldier’s departure to eternity.

According to Rustam Yakhikhanov (Grozny), the war brings great suffering to people, but at the same time it is a testament to that great love for their native land, for the protection of which they are ready to give all their strength. This moment is depicted in his work “Militias”. The names of those who fought for their homeland will forever remain in the memory of the people.

In the sketch of the painting “On Military Land” by Sergey Danchev (Karaganda), the theme is revealed through a landscape that conveys not only the state of nature, but also the human experience, the tension of his spiritual forces and his sense of anxiety. In the center of the composition is an Orthodox church as a symbol of the irreplaceable faith of our people - against the backdrop of the war-torn native land.

The hero of the painting “The Last Snow” by Frolov Ivanov (Leningrad) appears on the verge of death. He catches with his palms and mouth the last snow in his life, his gaze and prayerfully folded hands are turned to the sky with a prayer for victory over evil and for peace on earth.
On the eve of this great date, one cannot help but recall the names of the famous masters of art, members of the Academy of Arts, whose work entered the brightest page in the fiction of the Great Patriotic War. These are such masters as M. Anikushin and E. Vuchetich, L. Kerbel and Kukryniksy (M. Kupriyanov, P. Krylov, N. Sokolov), B. Efimov and O. Vereisky, A. Gritsay and E. Moiseenko, Yu. Neprintsev and B. Prophets, B. Ugarov and V. Tsigal, F. Reshetnikov and V. Vetrogonsky, L. Soifertis and A. Mylnikov, E. Zverkov and M. Samsonov, M. Kurilko-Ryumin and others.
