May 29 at 18.00 in the gallery "On Kashirka" "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" (Ak. Millionschikova St., 35, building 5) will be a presentation project "Inhabitants of the stone jungle" .
The joint project of the Darwin Museum and the Exhibition Halls of Moscow Association won the competition among city museums and received a grant from the Moscow City Department of Culture, the organizer of the competition. Thanks to this support, from March 28 to July 29, the mobile exhibition “Inhabitants of the Stone Jungle” is exhibited at four venues in the South-West Administrative District and South Administrative District of the capital: the Nagornaya Gallery, the Na Shabolovka Gallery, the Na Kashirka Gallery, and the Belyaevo Gallery. Then the exhibition will travel to museums and exhibition venues in Russia.
This project will be the catalyst that launches the discussion process to find a solution to the problem of comfortable cohabitation of humans and animals in the metropolis. Everyone is invited to the dialogue: citizens, management companies, representatives of government and business.
The rich material from the funds of the Darwin Museum (natural science material and works of art) and author’s photographs will tell the story of the coexistence of living organisms in the "stone jungle".
The library area provided in the exhibition space will help visitors learn how to care for future pets, which will allow owners to make an informed choice. Anyone can replenish the library with books on the care of animals.
The unusual format of the exhibition invites visitors to discuss sensitive topics. Are animals comfortable in the city? Are animals a blessing that brings rich emotions and love to life, or a danger lurking in wild instincts? How do pets turn out on the streets? Are stray animals a city problem or is this the norm of modern life? What can we do for them?
The program of the exhibition includes events for residents of districts to participate in solving the problem of homeless animals. Among them is the “Find Me” campaign, together with shelters for finding hosts for homeless pets, a children’s drawing contest, an interactive zone for visitors, quizzes, and lectures by specialists.
The exhibition project is open in the gallery "On Kashirka" until June 28, 2015.
