Once upon a time, the brothers Chuck and Huck went to the distant Blue Mountains to celebrate the New Year with their dad geologist. There, in the snowy taiga, the kids dressed a wonderful Christmas tree. They had only magazines with pictures, shreds, tissue paper and foil from tea packaging. How did they do it?
This is explained by the New Year’s exhibition at the Toy Museum. This time it is dedicated to handmade Christmas-tree decorations and is addressed to everyone who is not lazy, creative, knows and appreciates old traditions. The exposition introduces the most diverse secrets of festive decoration: how to turn paper into garlands, chains, snowflakes, how to mold an animal from cotton wool, which is good for an egg shell or a fir cone. Among the presented Christmas tree decorations are toys, bonbonnieres and surprises created from drawings from old Soviet magazines and children’s calendars. Visitors themselves can try to make some of them according to the proposed samples, as well as watch New Year’s filmstrips using an old filmoscope… right on the wall, as before.
