April 12 in the gallery "Nagornaya" Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" will open the exhibition, prepared in conjunction with the Center for folk art and crafts of Khanty-Mansiysk.
The exposition will acquaint Moscow viewers with the original work of its indigenous peoples (Ob Ugric peoples), legends and myths of the Far North (Yakutia, Chukotka).
The program of the vernissage: a master class on the manufacture of the Khanty doll-akan.
The exhibition will introduce you to one of the unique natural and cultural landscapes of Eurasia, the Ugra region, whose culture is an original alloy of traditions, permeated by the common experience of the unity of nature and man.
The exposition is dedicated to the god of the Ob Ugrians, Khanty and Mansi - Mir-Susne-Khumu (Mans.), Equa-pygrisu (hunt.): “Every night on an eight-winged horse with a golden mane, the celebrated man goes around in songs, the Heavenly Horseman (names there are many northern gods), the patron saint of hunters, the keeper of the family, the earth. The personification of the world in which the rhythm of everyday life, the continuation of the sacred rhythm, he whispers to the shamans the wise words of his father, the creator of "all three worlds" Num-Torum. "
The meaning of a national holiday in any national tradition is the acquisition of integrity, through participation in the memory of the earth, the memory of the family, the memory of the father and mother. One of such traditions is revealed by the Mir-Susne-Khumu offerings: sacrificial bedspreads, hats / heroic helmets, bow with arrows, created by the masters of the Khanty-Mansiysk Center for Crafts and Crafts. Objects that women (except for sewing them) are not supposed to see, all these are parts of the male world, a personal gift of the owner of the house to the patron god.
The exhibition also includes video materials - the documentary trilogy of Ivan Golovnev - films "Little Catherine", "Field", "Old Man Peter", about the current life of Khanty and Mansi, reports from festivals and international congresses held in Khanty-Mansiysk and collecting masters of traditional culture Russia and other countries (Finland, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia).
The second part of the exhibition continues to reveal the theme of the mythology of the indigenous peoples of the North through the work of the artist Vasily Moiseev. His sculptures and graphics carved from bone carry songs and tales of Khanty and Mansi, Nenets, Dolgans, Chukchi, kayaks - legends about Pelican (the guardian god of the hearth, devouring and digesting human envy, stupidity, everyday turmoil and bad thoughts, making a person successful and invulnerable to dark forces), about a bear and a whale, about a winged mammoth with a fish tail, about a loon (or duck) that raised land to the surface from the World Ocean.
