On October 18, 2017, the personal exhibition of the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitry Belyukin “Under the Veil of the Sky” opens in the MastART Gallery. The exposition presents the audience with one of the artist’s favorite genres - landscape.
Dmitry Belyukin was born in Moscow in 1962 in the family of the artist. In 1980, he graduated from the Moscow secondary art school at the Moscow State Art Institute named after IN AND. Surikov, where his teachers were V.F. Denisov, B.A. Kelberer, E.G. Gavrilkevich. From 1980 to 1986 he studied at the institute of the same name in the portrait workshop of Professor I.S. Glazunov (teachers R.F. Karklin, A.S. Trofimov, P.P. Litvinsky). From 1988 to 1991 he worked in the Creative workshops of the Academy of Arts of the USSR under the guidance of the People’s Artists of the USSR, academicians S.P. and A.P. Weavers.
The artist’s landscapes can be divided into two parts: the landscape of Valdai and all the other beauties of the Earth. Since childhood, the artist has been spending a few months a year in Valdai in his native house, which they built with his father. A special cycle is the work written in the Holy places: Athos, Sinai, Orthodox monasteries of Kievan Rus and Russia.
Dmitry Belyukin masterfully, very subtly and accurately conveys different states of nature - fog, a clear morning, a thundering sky, clouds in a backlight, clouds in the evening, twilight, predawn state of nature. The landscape for the artist is a special mental attitude and dialogue with the world and the Creator.
“It’s just that childishly I want to get on the canvas in this color of water and pines. Here came some especially marvelous cloud and wobbled in the water - immediately there was excitement: well, how do I have time to “overtake” it or not? A landscape in the air, in the sun and the wind, in a bore or field is a joy for the artist, it is a vacation! Yes, I didn’t make a slip of the tongue: sometimes, finishing one canvas, you take another, you write all day, and along with natural fatigue, delight comes from luck, and your strength will quadruple! The energy of the chosen corner of nature charges both the author and the canvas is also soldered with air, humidity and light. ”
The exhibition can be visited until November 6, 2017 at Voznesensky Lane, 9, p. 2.
