In the Artmuz Museum for the anniversary of the Art Lyceum. B.V. Ioganson will host a collective exhibition of her graduates of different years. The participants, world renowned authors, will present works in a wide range of genres, from painting and sculpture to design and animation.
In St. Petersburg there is a unique educational institution - the Art Lyceum. B. V. Ioganson, previously called the "Secondary Art School at the Repin Institute of the USSR Academy of Arts." Actually, thanks to this old name, the abbreviation “SHSH” has been informally attached to the school to this day, and its students and graduates are called the cheerful nickname “shshatiki”. It is difficult to exaggerate the significance of the School of Art in the artistic life of the city and the country: a huge number of famous Soviet and Russian artists began their path to great art from the walls of this school. Its history begins in 1934, when the “School of Young Talents” under the V.A.Kh. was created within the walls of the Academy of Arts, but the exhibition is dedicated to a separate period in the history of the school, which began in 1971.
In 2021, it will be 50 years since the school settled in its current building on Detskaya Street. On this occasion, former graduates decided to make a small exhibition within the walls of the school and share their experience with the current shshatiki. Due to the restrictions of the pandemic, it was decided to move the exhibition to the Artmuz Museum of Contemporary Art and present it in 2022. Thus, the initial idea grew into a large project, in which not only St. Petersburg scumbags could take part, but also artists who now live in different parts of Russia and abroad. Representatives of different areas of contemporary art united on one platform. The exhibition will feature not only paintings, drawings, sculptures, but also various types of design, 3D computer graphics, and animation.
The curator of the project is the artist Alexander Zimin. With the financial support of the Foundation for Social and Cultural Development "Creating World", a catalog is being published for the opening of the exhibition, worthy of becoming a bibliographic rarity. In addition to reproductions of paintings, it will feature old photographs from the personal archives of the artists, as well as their literary memories of the school.
