On May 23, in the gallery “Nagornaya” of the Association “Exhibition Halls of Moscow”, an exhibition-round-the-world tour of 56 parallels is opened with the help of geographical maps, where 8 countries are represented as recognizable images.
The objective of the project is to explore the possibilities of material-paper as a media of contemporary art, as well as to arouse interest in the study of various cultures.
The entire exhibition space will be a round-the-world trip to countries in which the viewer may not have been. But fantasies about them, spontaneous images of dreams, formed by books, photographs, stories, create a bizarre image of these countries. These images and become the main own world tour.
At the exhibition, the viewer will be able to understand whether the length of the sleeves of the girls’ dress depends on the length of the rivers in these parts, and whether the height of the mountains is related to the high waist of the outfit.
The project is based on the book by Nikolai Roginsky "From Moscow to Moscow 56 parallels, or a journey that I could take." A special place in the exhibition will take Ivan Balashov’s graphic fantasies.
The project participants are Nina Ostroun, Aleksey Lev, Uliana Laschenko, Ivan Balashov.
The curator of the project is Nina Ostroun, curator, author of books on origami, the creator of a virtual museum dedicated to this art.
