From December 18, 2015 to January 10, 2016, the Nagornaya gallery of the Exhibition Halls of Moscow Association will host the Megapolis exhibition, organized with the participation of the Creative Union of the Union of Artists of Russia and the Moscow Union of the Union of Artists.
As part of the exhibition project, artists from different countries are exploring the ideas of a modern person about themselves and the world in close cooperation with the development of technology and the changing life of megacities. The modern culture of a megalopolis is the “plurality of lives” located in the information-communicative stream, in the reservoir of energy of a new visual consciousness. The artist, as a passionate observer through the process of connecting and penetrating systems of artistic vision, puts his house in the very center of the multitude, on the line of ebbs and flows, in the thick of the elusive and infinite.
The polyphony of images, forms, structures from holistic to small visualizes the "microworlds" of the metropolis, forming an exhibition intrigue. The “whole” in the project is considered as interpenetration and interchange in the constructive construction of the exhibition space. Each of the project participants was assigned a “module” as a volume measurement. A “module” can be a relief, a plane, a volume, and a niche. From the connection of “modules” arises a “whole”. The plots found by the artists are embodied in the plane of a single large-format canvas, installation and video art, presenting the metropolis in its beauty and ugliness, contradictions and harmony. The unusual format of the exhibition invites each viewer to observe the modern transformations of the urbanistic life of large cities, indicating for themselves the closest way of perceiving.
The project includes educational activities and excursions and an interactive area for visitors.
