Manuel Gomez’s own artistic style is determined by his character and attitude towards life: grace and grace, frankness and sensuality, an easy share of irony. The heroes of the paintings are fabulous ladies, jesters and musicians, as if they were born in fantastic dreams. Ignoring the audience, they continue to live in their magical, bizarre world.
The new exhibition is inspired by the images of the royal court in a modern design: His Majesty, favorites, princesses, court jesters. The heroes of the paintings personify the dreams and dreams of people: the artist uses light colors and soft fuzzy lines, but portrays them full of passions and emotions, surrounded by gloomy inscriptions. The contrast in the paintings makes an incredible impression: a light, airy center and a gloomy background in the style of graffiti, smudges and blots. As a mirror image, the paintings reveal to us easily recognizable features of their own fantasies and fears. The works presented at the exhibition are the embodiment of craftsmanship, the French artist’s own style and modern trends in a lively, relevant form.
Manuel Gomez was born in Paris in 1969 and has Portuguese roots. Having received an academic degree at the Corvisart School of Graphic Arts, Manuel Gomez made his debut as a graphic designer and achieved considerable success. His talent and artistic taste allowed him to work with Guerlain and La Roche-Posay haute couture houses for several years. Manuel Gomez developed the concepts of design and packaging of cosmetic products, in particular, he created a sketch for the fragrance Shalimar, as well as the perfume bottle Samsara Gold (Samsara et l’Or). Being a talented artist, he regularly exhibited around the world: in the gardens of Versailles and the exhibition center Carrousel du Louvre in his native Paris, in contemporary art galleries in Japan and Russia, and this winter in the FoSSart gallery in St. Petersburg!
Information note on the FoSSart Gallery: The Fossart Gallery was opened in October 2013 in the center of St. Petersburg.
