May 03, 2018, Moscow. In the museum and exhibition complex of the Sergey Andriyaka School of Watercolor, a unique exhibition “Kukryniksy, Famous and Unknown” from the series “Masterpieces of Museum Collections” was launched, the official opening of which took place on April 26.
The legendary Kukrsyniksy collective is Kupriyanov Mikhail, Krylov Porfiry and Nikolai Sokolov. Until the mid-70s of the last century, the work of this famous trio was known to many Soviet citizens, and their humorous posters and caricatures were very popular.
Unfortunately, today the work of "Kukryniksy" began to be gradually forgotten, and their works are almost never exhibited, although they are in the collections of several large museums.
And at the end of April, an unusual exhibition opened its doors at the Museum and Exhibition Fund of the Sergey Andriyaka School of Watercolor, which presented not only the most popular comic posters and cartoons of Kukryniksy, but also the work of the artists themselves. Opening the exhibition, Vladimir Sergeyevich Pogodin, Deputy Director of the School of Watercolors for Museum and Exhibition Work and Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, quite rightly noted that the work of Kukryniksy played a huge artistic, educational and patriotic role in the lives of several generations of Soviet people of the 30s - 70s of the last century.
And Alexei Georgievich Egorov, a long-time and loyal friend of the School of Watercolors Sergey Andriyaka, as well as a representative of the general sponsor of the exhibition at PAO Severstal, noted with bitterness: “Today we sometimes began to forget those who should not be forgotten. Creativity "Kukryniksy" was intended to awaken in every person the most sincere and honest feelings: pride, love, sympathy, devotion, hatred of the enemy. Kupriyanov, Krylov and Sokolov were great artists, each of them was a peculiar, true personality. That’s why the work is so carefully and reverently stored not only in Russian, but also in many famous museums and galleries in the world. ”
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding reality, Kukryniksy created caricatures, military and political posters, picturesque landscapes, book illustrations.
The exposition covers all the variety of genres, allowing you to display the outstanding facets of the talent of the legendary team.
The exhibition presents works from the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Historical Museum, the Tula Art Museum, the Rybinsk Museum Reserve, and the Abramtsevo Museum Reserve. Remarkable paintings were provided by private collectors and antique galleries of the capital.
Having visited the exhibition, each spectator will be able to remember again the outstanding works of the Kukryniksy or get to know them for the first time.
Part of the exposition, reflecting the work of artists during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, is dedicated to the upcoming celebration of Victory Day.
The exhibition runs until June 3, 2018
