Exhibition Konstantin Sidoruk "WAY HOME" in Gallery A3 Automatic translate
“The need to formulate a concept has led me to some confusion. I have never followed any concepts. It seemed to me that they were restricting freedom. I wanted creativity to be as free, simple, easy and natural as breathing. Live, feel, think and draw. In a word - to be. To be like a bell in the wind. The bells are drawings. Wind is the breath of life.
In search of (retroactively) a concept, I ask myself questions and try to find answers to them. The task is not simple, like searching for a system in a phenomenon that at first, second, and even at a third glance seems like a set of accidents, visual images, why and why it has arisen in consciousness and embodied on paper. What is the most important thing in this? The desire for creative freedom, as the highest value. At least in my case, creativity is the path to freedom, which is not there. Unfreedom is overcome step by step, disassembled like a nesting doll - took off the first, and there the second, took off the second - there is the third… And in the end there is the last one in front of you, which you don’t have enough strength or desire or is just scary because there… Who knows what is there? Emptiness, nothingness, or maybe the next nesting doll? It seems that freedom (even creative freedom) is unattainable. This follows from the fundamental principles of the organization of living matter, one of which is discreteness, or individuality, limited in space and time of every cell, every living creature, population, species, biosphere. Otherwise, life cannot exist due to the objective laws of thermodynamics. I would call this an unscientific term - fundamental loneliness.
Pictures are sparks that are carved by the collision of a soul that has realized the desire for freedom - and the limitations of being. Perhaps the essence of all creativity is on the road, in attempts to achieve the unattainable.
How to find a few words that would contain all that was said: the desire for freedom, overcoming loneliness, the search for harmony? After all, all this was once. Just something happened, as if on a beautiful spring morning, filled with the sun, the smell of blooming gardens, birds singing, butterflies fluttering, I went out for a walk from the house - and you can’t find the way back, although it’s already autumn in the yard, and there, at home, you were not alone, and free.
Here, it seems, the right words - and the name of the exhibition, and the concept of creativity - the way home. ”
