On January 31, 2017, a new exhibition begins to work in the Irkutsk Art Museum - “Pictures of Folk Life. Gardner Plant. XIX century. " The exposition is located in the Gallery of sculpture on the street. Sverdlova, 16.
“In the gallery we acquaint residents and guests of Irkutsk with the sculpture in all its diversity - both with examples of chamber, interior plastic and with sketches of monumental monuments. In the format of many exhibitions were presented sculptural works, different in style, theme, technique, created by masters of different countries and eras. However, the Sculpture Gallery has never exhibited a sculpture of small forms - namely, porcelain plastic of the famous Russian enterprise - the Gardner factory, ”said Elena Kabunova, head of the museum’s exhibition and exhibition department.
The Gardner plant in its work focused on the general population, unlike the imperial factory, and developed its own theme. In the 19th century, a new “country” was created, populated by people, as they said then, of “low” professions: janitors, housekeepers, footmen, coachmen, cooks and many others, and soon the village types became the main ones in the production of the plant for a long time. Accordingly, the main series of works of the plant were named: “Pastoral figures”, “Children’s plots”, “Pictures of folk life”, “Peoples of Russia”, “Literary characters”, “Characters in historical costumes”, “Animalism” - it will be possible with them get to know at the exhibition. The public will see 66 Gardner figures, each of which deserves special attention, striking the subtlety of elaboration of details.
Within the framework of the exhibition, the author’s tours of the gallery’s scientific staff will take place, which will tell about the formation of the Gardner museum collection and its features. The exhibition will run until March 1, 2017. Phone for inquiries: 48-70-54.
