Alpert Gallery presents a solo exhibition of Alexander Arosev-Kashirin "A drop of absinthe." This is the exhibition premiere of the author, whose life has never been associated with professional artistic activity.
A. Arosev-Kashirin. Green Fairy (Absinthe)
A. Arosev-Kashirin. Three sisters
The author’s drawing, which refers to drawing as a fascinating hobby, is detailed and complex, sometimes decorative, and almost always permeated with theatrical pathos. Relatives of Alexander Arosev-Kashirin - famous actors: father - Boris Mikhailovich Kashirin, People’s Artist of the RSFSR; mother - Elena Aleksandrovna Aroseva, Honored Artist of the RSFSR; Aunt - the legendary actress of the Satire Theater Olga Alexandrovna Aroseva. It is not surprising that the backstage of the theater, its “unreal reality” and illusory flicker in the plots and compositional solutions of drawings reminiscent of illustrations and theatrical sketches at the same time. Masks from the comedy del arte, facial expressions of heroes, plastic bodies - a little too much, a little more than in life… Thanks to this expressiveness, the author manages to create catchy stories, intriguing and paradoxical.
A. Arosev-Kashirin. Lilith family
Whom does the “Preparation” dissect by pricking a butterfly on its own hand - a beautiful insect or itself? Are the romantic figures of Don Quixote and his faithful companion a random shadow of two vagabonds or their real essence (“They were”)? Where is the real engine of the “Time Machine” - isn’t it the person who rolls this device on a trolley? Each drawing of the artist is surprising - first a paradox, and then the joy of a sudden understanding. But after that there is a feeling that this is only a trick, and the real solution is a little further than the first meaning, which the author made it so easy to consider. And where the real reality is no longer completely clear, the answer depends on the point of view and dedication of the viewer himself - as in the case of a lover of absinthe ("Absinthe"), where, it seems, only the bottle with the "green fairy" is real.
Oscar Ould stated: “After the first glass of absinthe, you see the world as you would like to see it. After the second you see a non-existent world. And finally, you see the world exactly as it is, but nothing worse than that. ” What formula would a sophisticated esthetician and expert in absinthe derive from the world of today? It is possible that for such a transformation of vision one drop of this drink would be enough…
The exhibition “Drop of Absinthe” presents more than 30 graphic works, several dozen small-format drawings, as well as the installation created by Alpert Gallery as part of the artist’s project “Red Broom”.
Alexander Arosev-Kashirin was born in 1961 in Omsk. In childhood, he attended the only art school in the city, because parents wanted to see their son as a theater artist. Contrary to the will of the family, he entered a medical university. Occasionally he drew to entertain homework. The last three years he has been engaged in graphics, creates installation projects.
