June 2, 2016 at 16.00 in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts opens an exhibition of Honored Artist of Russia Ivan Milyaev and artist Anna Efimova “Painting, Graphics, Theater”.
This is the second exhibition in Kaluga, representing the work of these contemporary Moscow artists. Their creative and family duet realizes itself in several ways: they work a lot and fruitfully at the Moscow Children’s Musical Theater "Impromptu" and the Tula Puppet Theater; conduct a large pedagogical work in the capital’s Children’s Art School named after V. A. Vatagin; Ivan Milyaev is also a professor at the School-Studio (University) named after Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko at the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov and dean of the art and production department at the Humanitarian Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting named after M.A. Litovchina. They have wonderful children - Elizabeth and Tryphon, who followed in the footsteps of their parents and became an artist.
Some of the paintings of Ivan Milyaev presented at the exhibition are sketches of scenery for musical performances for children, among which the most beloved is “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” (to the music of V. Berkovsky and S. Nikitin and verses by V. Smekhov). This talented modern musical is the main brand of the Impromptu Theater and was nominated in 2002 for the Golden Mask Award (including in the nomination Scenography and Set Design). The performance owes much of its success to the audience and professionals to the bright and temperamental stage design created by the main theater artist Ivan Milyaev.
Another passion of artists besides theater is traveling and new impressions. Italy, France, Crimea, Tarusa, Academic dacha them. I.E. Repin near the Vyshny Volochok - favorite, frequently visited places on Earth. Ivan Milyaev’s picturesque manner was received by him from the Impressionists and Fauvists, in whose love he never tires of confessing. In his works, the influence of Cezanne, Claude Monet, Matisse is guessed: a swift brushstroke, a special, largely unexpected sense of color, the ability to express the joy of being in a simple motive.
The graphic works of Anna Efimova have a firm, masculine, even handwriting (not without reason Mikhail Vrubel - a brilliant draftsman - her favorite artist). With a line and a stroke, she masterfully sculpts the shape of flowers and herbs in the pencil series of the same name. Portraits were created in the same technique - strict, even monumental, intense, expressive drawing. The plastic and lively image of the dog is conveyed only by a confident, accurate line with a felt-tip pen. It is interesting to compare her graphic landscapes with the picturesque I. Milyaev, made in the same places, because they always travel together…
The exhibition will include creative meetings with the authors (dates will be announced at the opening day).
The curator of the exhibition is Svetlana Klepova, head of the scientific and educational department of the museum.
The exhibition will run until July 3, 2016 in the exhibition hall of the Information, Educational and Exhibition Center of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts at the following address: Kaluga, ul. Lenin, 103 (2nd floor).
The museum is open from 10.00 to 18.00; on Saturday from 11.00 to 19.00; day off - monday
