100 years ago, in December 1922, an important historical event took place that determined the course of development of our country for many decades - this was the signing of an agreement on the formation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The Declaration on Education spoke of creating an "environment of mutual trust" and laying the "foundation of the fraternal cooperation of peoples." If 4 delegations were present at the signing of this historic document, then from 1956 to 1991 the USSR included 15 republics.
This exhibition is conceived as a kind of decorative panel, composed of artistic images, whose authors are the masters of the Union republics. It was based on works from the fund of the Union of Artists of the USSR, transferred in 2020 by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to the Tula Museum of Fine Arts (a branch of the Tula Museum Association). These are paintings and sculptures of the 1960-1990s. from Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Estonia. The second part of the exposition is formed from works that are in the collection of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts and represent the creative search of the masters of Belarus, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. A special place at the exhibition is occupied by the Republic of Moldova, whose cultural traditions are embodied in the sketch of the miniature “Soviet Republics.
The presented works provide an opportunity to learn, and for some to remember the ethnic flavor of the former socialist republics. On canvas and paper, in bronze and clay, the diverse heritage of the multinational culture of the USSR was reflected - nature, economy, clothing, worldview, mood.
It should be noted that not only the special vision of the authors is of interest, but also the national traditions of painting. A distinctive feature of which is the general expression of colors. There is a tendency in art that the warmer the climate of the artist’s homeland, the brighter and warmer the shades on his canvas, so at this exhibition you can see the whole spectrum of colors from Tbilisi to Lake Trakai near Vilnius.
Each work is special and unique, but at the same time, all together they represent one whole: the original and diverse artistic culture of the Soviet period.
