The Sergei Andriyaka School of Watercolors will host the opening of the exhibition “Art Scorched by War. Watercolors and graphics from the collection of A. G. Egorov "dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The exhibition will be open to visitors from September 5 to October 11, 2020 at the museum and exhibition complex of the Sergey Andriyaka School of Watercolor.
The exhibition will feature eighty-three graphic works by Soviet artists on the theme of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Among them are a series of portraits of Soviet servicemen, everyday scenes, and book illustrations.
Such works as “Three Ivans. Sketch for the painting of the same name "by F. V. Antonov," Reichstag "by N. G. Kotov, pencil portrait of Generalissimo I. V. Stalin, made by D. A. Nalbandian, drawing" Burned down village "by G. G. Nissky, as well as a sketch to the work "Rescue of the Dresden Gallery Pictures" by MF Volodin and the sketch of the battalion scene "Attack. Marine landing "Yu. M. Neprintsev. In addition, visitors to the exhibition will be able to see caricatures of the famous Kukryniksy trio, pencil drawings by the talented marine painter I.F. Titov, genre scenes by L.V.
The exhibition brought together masters for whom the war took a special place in their creative destiny: their works vividly and deeply embodied the feelings and experiences of the people at this difficult time for the country. The atmosphere of frontline life, portraits of unknown heroes of the army and home front, sketches of military operations - these plots deserve the attention of both art historians and museum workers, and fans of graphic art.
“Opening this exhibition in the year of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, we pay tribute to the memory of outstanding masters who captured the grandiose feat of the Soviet people. By means of art, in their own way, they defended and strengthened the spiritual power of our Fatherland. Their works will be of interest not only to history lovers: it is impossible to remain indifferent in front of the authenticity and unseen heroism that the painters show us. A variety of artistic means and graphic techniques, memorable images, a realistic manner of execution - you will find all this in the works of the artists presented in the exhibition. I would like to thank the School of Watercolors and Sergei Nikolaevich Andriyaka personally for the opportunity to present these unique works to the general public ”,- noted the deputy general director of Severstal for communications and interaction with government authorities, collector and philanthropist Alexei Egorov.
