Irina Korshunova works in the porcelain technique, underglaze painting with cobalt and in the silk painting technique (cold batik). The author prefers an ornamental, clear-cut floral painting based on the plastic of a painted brushstroke and contrasting the sonorous saturated spot with the graphic image. Bouquets and garlands, wreaths and twigs are grouped according to the shape of vessels and decorative dishes, chintz patterns are spread on the surface of tea utensils. Free floral improvisations are complemented by a clear rhythm of all kinds of nets, borders, ornamental medallions. The contrast of cobalt and white background corresponds to the general state of the awakening of nature and the affirmation of life, which sounds in the artist’s work as the main motive.
In addition to traditional porcelain, the exhibition presents a collection of dresses “Fragrant color”. Natural silk, hand-painted (cold batik), braid. The bodice and straps are decorated with porcelain details with underglaze cobalt painting.
