Exhibition "GRUND zin fest. Expansion ”will present artists focused on interdisciplinary projects. The authors are united by an interest in a DIY experiment (Do It Yourself “Do It Yourself”) and the format of a zine, magazine or author’s book. The exposition will be composed of works performed in various techniques and media: illustration, painting, sculpture, graphics, performance, video and sound art, computer graphics, as well as print publications of the authors. The exhibition explores zing as a social and cultural phenomenon. The project raises the question of the role of zine in the artistic practice of the authors: is it the basis, extension or archival fixation of their work? Some of the participants for the first time turn to the practice of printing books, among them musicians and sound artists. Part of the work was created by artists specifically for the exhibition on the initiative of the festival “GREUND ZIN FEST”. The exhibition will be accompanied by an event program: public talk with organizers and authors, presentations of publications with the participation of authors, performances of participants, film screenings.
Participants: Marina Alekseeva, Lyudmila Baronina, Alexandra Bobkova, Pavel Grishin, Dima Gusev, Elizaveta Guseva, Anna Domini, Andrey Kasai, Matvey Kaif, KOTA Records, Olya Kroytor, Markus Martinovich, Stepan Parshin, Vladimir Rannev, Masha Somik, Misha Filatov.
Curators: Katerina Savina, Katya Bochavar.
The project continues the program work of the “GRAND ZIN FEST” - the first festival of the author’s book and short literature in Russia. In 2017 and 2018, he took place in the galleries and workshops "GRUND Sandy" and "GRUND Khodynka." Over the past three years, the GRUND Zin Fest has represented book authors and independent publishers at research and art exhibitions, fairs, workshops with foreign participants. The festival also introduced the culture of sound samizdat - soundart and electronic music. The festival aims to include Moscow and Russian authors in the international movement of an independent circulation publisher. Combining micro-publishers from all over the world, “GRUND ZIN FEST” shows the relevance and significance of the further development of this direction for the book and art communities.
