The exhibition “Wanderings” is already the sixth solo exhibition of Alexandra Anyukhina, the first in St. Petersburg. The exhibition presents works in various printing graphic techniques: etching, linocut, plastic engraving, printing on fabric.
The name "Wanderings" reveals the basic concept of the exhibition, which consists in combining geographical and metaphysical wanderings. Here you can see graphic landscapes of different regions of Russia, covering the Far East and North-Western regions of the country, made in the classical manner, as well as symbolic compositions that reveal the theme of metaphysical travels.
Alexander attaches particular importance to musical images. In her work there are bizarre combinations of images of musical instruments with biomorphic forms. Often the main character of the composition is the guitar. A series of prints - “The Many-Faced Guitar” is dedicated to her at the exhibition. Musicality is also present in the principles of organization of the visual space. All the works of this series are united by the author’s approach to solving compositional problems - the main theme is devoted to the image of the guitar, and smaller objects serve as a counterpoint. A significant place is given to the white background, in the artist’s works he plays the role of “silence” and “silence”, the images “sound” brighter on him. The whole series combines a concise figurative language.
In addition to the graphic sheets, the viewer will also be able to get acquainted with the poetic works of Alexandra Anyukhina presented at the exhibition. Specially for the exhibition, a poetic collection with the same name “Wanderings” was prepared, it included twelve poems illustrated by the author’s prints. Poems reveal the content of the works deeper and allow the viewer to plunge into the artist’s world, where everything is inspired, filled with music and poetry.
“Graphics is a living language in which I communicate with the world, bring my thoughts and feelings to the viewer. It is specific, difficult and requires special preparation for its perception, but for me this language is native and close.
In my work, graphics, poetry and music exist inseparably, since I managed to find common ground in them. These are three different languages of art, but, in fact, I speak them about the same thing - about love for the world, because I believe that transmitting my love is the true purpose of the artist ”- Alexander Anyukhin.
