Nadezhda Lamanova is a legend in the world of fashion and theater, the holder of the title “Supplier of the Court of His Imperial Majesty”, the first Russian fashion designer of the Country of Soviets. As a halo of greatness she was surrounded by a host of great Russian princesses, prominent actresses, famous writers, artists and directors.
The exhibition “Genius in a skirt” includes five sections: “Palace”, “Theater”, “Revolutionary”, “Stars - a star!” And “Documentary”. The core of the exposition is unique exhibits - dresses made by Nadezhda Lamanova from the collections of the Moscow Museum and the Moscow Art Theater. Private collectors Tatyana Abramova and Olga Izvolskaya will provide genuine pre-revolutionary dresses belonging to the House of N. P. Lamanova. Modern reconstruction of the famous toilets “Genius in a skirt” will be carried out by 20 Russian designers, embroiderers, lace-makers, among them Elena Suprun, Elena Shepilova, Elena Elange and Victoria Yazarova.
The leading designers take part in the “Stars to the Star!” Exhibition section: Vyacheslav Zaitsev (SLAVA ZAITSEV), Tatyana Parfenova, Yegor Zaitsev (YeZ by Yegorzaitsev), Anastasia Romantsova (A LA RUSSE), Katya Leonovich (USA), Oleg Ovsiev (USA) Vox), Igor Gulyaev (IGOR GULYAEV), Victoria Andreyanova (Victoria Andreyanova), Sergey Efremov (EFREMOV fashion house), Elena Makashova (designer of HakaMa Dress Studio), Seredin & Vasiliev. The exposition presents photographs and documents from the collections of the A. Bakhrushin State Theater Museum, the V.V. Mayakovsky State Museum, the "Elisabeth-Sergius Enlightenment Society", the State Hermitage Museum, the "Observatory of Culture" magazine at the Russian State Library, and the Russian State Historical Museum Archive, State Archive of the Russian Federation, Central Archive of Moscow, Russian State Archive of Literature and Art.
