The Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography presents an exhibition of finalists for the ING Unseen Talent international award.
“ING Unseen Talent” is an award that creates an opportunity for talented young European photographers to present their work to a wide audience at the international level.
Each year, experts in the field of art and photography select several young artists from all over Europe, five of whom are on the list of finalists of the ING Unseen award. They are trained in an extended program, while working on creating works on a given topic for the ING collection. The program includes three classes organized by world-famous artists, as well as a number of workshops conducted by various professionals in the field of photography. Last year, masters such as Desiree Dolron, Rineke Dijkstra, Todd Hido and Nadav Kander acted as mentors.
Final works are exhibited as part of Unseen Amsterdam, the main event in the world of modern photography, which is held annually in September in Amsterdam. The winner, who receives funds for the implementation of his projects in the amount of € 10,000, is selected by an international jury, and his name is announced at an official ceremony at Unseen Amsterdam.
Over the past two years, the prize has offered such topics: “Common Ground” in 2017, in which artists tried to find what unites us among the many differences, and “Fool for Love” in 2016, where the subject of the work was the passion and dedication that are needed to follow a dream.
Especially for the exhibition at the Fotobookfest festival, Natalya Grigoryeva (founder and chief curator of the Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography) personally chose the works of six finalists of the last two years: Andrea Grutzner (Germany), Alexandra Lethbridge (Great Britain), Thomas Albdorf (Austria), Miren Pastor )Spain), Theresa Zelenkova (Czech Republic) and Felicity Hammond (United Kingdom).
ING Art Management
Art and banking often seem to be distant worlds. However, ING has been happy to support artists for a long time. Since 1974, we have been acquiring artwork in our collection, opening offices, organizing exhibitions around the world, and sponsoring cultural institutions. We have also become the founder of the Arts Prize. We strive to cultivate a culture of innovation and change. And here, like nowhere else, real art and artists are important! We believe that creators around the world are always innovators who are ahead of their time. The insightful and often provocative vision of the world, reflected in their works, makes us think about important things. At the same time, we want to provide these talented people with a place, environment and expert support to help them develop a career in the field of art.
