The Gardens is the final exhibition project in 2021. Almost magical and incredibly atmospheric, it is dedicated to the memories of loved ones and… dreams.

The personal exhibition of Evgenia Melnikova is deeply personal on the topic. The project was based on the artist’s childhood memories of a common dream with her parents - to grow a beautiful garden on her summer cottage. She and her family collected inspirational magazine clippings and planted beautiful flowers.

Time has passed, those parents with whom we made plans are no longer there. But the warming memories continue to live on and inspire the artist for a large exhibition project. Taking as a basis those same magazine clippings and archival photographs of the family, Evgenia creates 7 impressive canvases, as well as several sculptures and objects that tell about the atmosphere of her childhood. Executed in inversion, they emphasize the unreality of what is happening - belonging to the world of memories. And complemented by a neon sign, glass birds and rare objects (a chest of drawers of the 19th century and household items of the 40s-60s, taken away from a country house), on the contrary, they are more firmly connected with the real, material, real world.

The resulting exposition can be safely called a total installation inviting the viewer to plunge into a thoughtful and fragile world. A world in which everyone can turn to the depths of their memories.
