September 18 at 19:00 in the gallery "Bogorodskoye" Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" in the framework of the parallel program of the 6th Biennale of Contemporary Art will open the exhibition "NATURAL EXCHANGE. INTERNATIONAL RURAL STORE. ” The artists Vapke Feenstra (Holland) and Antje Schiffers (Germany), the organizers of the famous international project Myvillages, have worked in the small village of Zvizji for the past two years. (Nearby - the venue of the famous festival Archstoyanie in the Kaluga region).
The installation presents the results of a new discovery of the villagers - a clay deposit, which, with the help of experts and artists, was able to "convert" into a source of completely new local products - flat plates and containers for medicinal preparations, preserves and pickles.
The line “Made in Zvizji” is presented in the form of a “store” next to the products of other initiatives of the Myvillages group - an international rural store offers “for exchange” not only products-objects made in Russia, but also the results of joint work of artists and village communities from Ghana and Germany, Holland and Ireland, Spain and Switzerland. All of them are carriers of local stories, and "casts" of the process of artistic interaction, and potential catalysts for creative and entrepreneurial activity.
The neighborhood with the anti-cafe of the Bogorodskoye Gallery is not only a good context, but also a condition for live presentation and discussion of the project by artists, Muscovites, spectators of the village of Zvizzhi.
The communication of European artists with the population of the village turned out, on the one hand, to study the main topics, stories and problems of the countryside and local production, applied arts and gardening, and, on the other, to artistic activity. During their work at the Zvizhi art residence, the artists of the Myvillages creative group, together with the villagers, created public events and demonstrations of local stories and resources, including practices in the field of handicraft and rural production, home canning, ways of accumulating and transmitting historical, philological, natural science knowledge and ideas. The forms and formulations of this reflection were manifested in joint research, photographing, artistic and scientific cultivation of plants, the creation of exhibitions and street installations, discussions, participation in large projects.
The project “NATURAL EXCHANGE. INTERNATIONAL RURAL STORE ”is implemented by the Myvillages creative group together with the Association of Culture Managers (AMK) with the support of the German Federal Culture Fund, the Goethe Institute in Moscow and the Mondrian Foundation (Holland) in partnership with the Moscow Exhibition Halls Association.
