February 7 in the gallery "Bogorodskoye" Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" opens the exhibition of Vera Petrova "E = hν". The exhibition is the fourth part of the project “Ministry of Eternal Life”, on which the artist has been working since 2016.
The project combines socio-political, scientific, ethical, and religious-philosophical issues; within its framework, exhibitions have already been held at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Architectural Coworking, a parallel program of the VII Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art (gallery MVZ "A3"), and its culmination In the fall of 2018, a personal exhibition will be held at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
Vera Petrova works in different genres, and in the Bogorodskoye gallery you can see large paintings created in the characteristic style and assemblies of 2016-2017. For assemblages Vera Petrova uses ancient artifacts, natural materials, precious textures and even fragments of organic remains.
The name of the exhibition “E = hν” refers to the quantum energy formula. The artist reflects on the permeability of the world, the relationship between all processes on the planet, on the border of the micro- and macrocosm, the transition point from the cosmic scale to the quantum one and back. Man is no exception: like everything around him, he consists of waves and particles and obeys the global laws of nature. Is this not the guarantee of eternal life? But where, then, is the boundary of free will?
In the artist’s works, the revived snowy ocean or the enchanted forest is inhabited by characters with whom it is impossible to co-scale; all together froze in a single space-time.
Vera Petrova grew up in a family where the traditional pagan religion of the Yakuts and Christianity coexisted; Easter was celebrated there and fed the spirit of fire, and there was no contradiction in this.
Vera Petrova: “The Yakuts believe that nature is alive and every phenomenon or object has its own spirit. Words spoken aloud, and even thoughts, have the same - and sometimes even greater - power as physical actions. “Nothing disappears without a trace, and everything has energy.”
The parallel program in the framework of the exhibition “E = hν” and the project “Ministry of Eternal Life” includes film screenings, discussions, lectures.
