The house is one of the fundamental and, it would seem, unambiguous categories of our life. Meanwhile, it contains a variety of meanings: home; economy and its way; family hearth; Domov’s house, in which a person rests forever… Having gone headlong into the topic, the project participants, using a variety of materials and techniques, artistic techniques and expressive means, created more than fifty works of painting, original, print and computer graphics, decorative and applied art, spatial compositions. A whole range of visual images reveals the concept of a house in a variety of ways, from direct interpretation to bizarre associations that immerse in history, religion, mythology, and popular beliefs.
Artists revealed the theme of the Sviyazh house as such, creating real "portraits" of old wooden buildings, Sviyazh landscapes that convey not only architectural features, but also the spirit of the island; milestones of the history of Sviyazhsk and its inhabitants were reflected in family portraits. At the same time, they embodied more general, universal concepts for Russian culture, immersing us in the religious layers of the national consciousness, in the element of everyday life, in their own childhood impressions.
The participants sought to stir up consciousness, force themselves and others to reconsider their attitude to the past and present, to include mechanisms of recognition and cognition, activating both their own memory and collective memory…
