Anna Nova Gallery presents the exhibition "Measuring Range" - the first personal project :: vtol :: (the pseudonym of the artist Dmitry Morozov) in St. Petersburg, representing his artistic research practices of recent years.
The range of measurement is a play on words, obtained in an attempt to formulate as fully and poetically as possible the totality of images, methods and those to which the artist turns in his practice. This range of creativity is by no means a frame, scale or spectrum, but an elastic and unstable quantity, which every year absorbs more and more dimensions.
Almost each of the presented works in the exposition really measures something: itself, the surrounding space, the temperature of the meteorite, the biological parameters of a person. At the same time, objects create their own spatial and temporal dimension. Sometimes it is a mythologized narrative. In other cases, this dimension becomes an abstract kinetic or sound action that largely organizes and structures chaos, or vice versa - this chaos engenders.
The exhibition consists of 16 carefully selected projects of the artist, most vividly illustrating the various directions and methods of his work. 4 works were created specifically for the exhibition and are shown for the first time. On the second floor of the gallery, the "Geological Trilogy" is presented - an artistic study telling about three unusual natural and anthropogenic phenomena of a planetary scale that occurred at different times in the CIS.
