EXHIBITION "CHILDREN IN ART" at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts Automatic translate
December 18, 2014 at 16:00 in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts will open the exhibition "Children in Art". The theme of the exhibition is one of the most popular artistic images in the history of world culture - the image of a child.
The exhibition project “Children in the Arts” consists of two parts.
Part I (from December 18, 2014 to March 1, 2015) - scientific , contains art criticism research by the artist Mikhail Shemyakin and research on this topic from his Institute of Philosophy and Psychology of Creativity. This is a unique collection of more than two hundred images of the child in painting, drawing, sculpture and installation.
Part II of the exhibition project (from January 22, 2014 to March 1, 2015) is an art project . It presents about a hundred works by contemporary artists - laureates of the competitive selection held as part of the exhibition.
The project "Children in Art" is an integral part of the research work, existing under the name: "The Imaginary Museum of the Artist Mikhail Shemyakin. Anthology of forms. "
Work on the project was started in the 1960s. The study of art of all times and nations has grown into a collection of millions of images structured in technical, historical and philosophical categories, for which the artist was awarded five honorary doctorates. This collection served as the basis for the creation of the Institute of Philosophy and Psychology of Creativity (France). In 2000, the artist established the Imaginary Museum in Hudson, New York, where research exhibitions are organized. In 2002-2003, he created 21 episodes of the cycle “The Imaginary Museum of Mikhail Shemyakin” for the Russian channel “Culture”. Since 2009, the Fund of the Artist Mikhail Shemyakin in St. Petersburg has been organizing exhibitions based on the materials of its research. In 2013, Mikhail Shemyakin released the first catalogs of research results. The artist worked on such topics as: “Scream in art”, “Monsters. Mythological characters ”,“ Hand in art ”. The theme "Children in the Arts" has become the logical successor to previous competitive topics.
The basis of the research activities of Mikhail Shemyakin lies in the interest in how the image of the child changes and transforms over many generations, as his contemporary artist sees. This can be a real image, or a built associative series associated with a given topic. But in the competition works, one way or another, “CHILD” sounds like a red thread.
The artist himself is very kind to children, considering them a miracle, angels. He is painfully experiencing a decline in the morals of modern society, which allows itself to be shocking with cynicism that depicts a child incompatible with art.
The works of contemporary artists submitted to the competition are made in various techniques and materials: painting, sculpture, graphics, collage.
For visitors, the exhibition will run from December 19, 2014 to March 01, 2015.
