The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by People’s Artist of the Republic of Buryatia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, honorary member of the Academy of Drawing in Florence Dashi Namdakov "Transformation". The chamber exposition presents works of sculpture, graphics, arts and crafts, which most vividly reflect the stages of the work of this original master.
Dashi Namdakov is one of the representatives of the modern, actively developing art of Buryatia. In 2000, the first personal exhibition of the artist was held at the Irkutsk Art Museum. During that period, a unique style of the master developed. The author turns to the historical and animalistic genres of easel sculpture, which he enriches with a new vision of form and memorable compositions. Dashi, with love and interest of a researcher, uses the forms and decor of the style of "Scythian-Siberian animalism": fragments of gilded bronze, detailed items of horsemen’s weapons, costume. Working in workshops in the Italian city of Pietrasanta allows the master to enrich the sculpture with different shades of natural bronze - from dark blue to carmine. In a later period, in addition to bronze, natural stone appeared in materials for sculptures,processed by special machines.
The exhibition in the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts allows tracing the main stages of Namdakov’s career. The exposition presents easel sculpture of different years: "Memories of the Future" (2001), "Morning" (2006), the composition "Victoria" (2014), animalistic images of the series "Eastern Calendar" (2015) and many others. The exposition will be supplemented by works of graphics, decorative and applied art and panoramic photos of the author’s famous monumental compositions: "The Tsar’s Hunt" (2013, Kyzyl), "Transformation" (2019, Krasnoyarsk), "Father Baikal" (2019, Olkhon). The exhibition in the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts is an important event in the creative life of Dashi Namdakov. For each of the works - many years of meditation and everyday work of the author. The viewer will be able to get acquainted with D. Namdakov’s experiments with material, shape and, of course, with color.
Dashi Namdakov was born in 1967 in Transbaikalia. In 1988 he entered the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute, where his mentors were L.N. Golovnitsky, Yu.P. Ishkhanov, A. Kh. Boyarlin, EI Pakhomov. Now the sculptor is a laureate of the State Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of culture, the State Prize of Mongolia. In 2007, for his work as an artist on the film by Sergei Bodrov Sr. "Mongol" Dasha received the Nika award in the nomination "Best Artist’s Work", the National Award of Film Critics and Film Press "White Elephant" and the award of the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia "Golden Eagle". Namdakov’s work is highly appreciated by professionals and art connoisseurs from all over the world. His works were exhibited at the State Hermitage Museum, Beijing Museum of World Art,in galleries Halcyon (Great Britain), National Arts Club (USA), are in museums and private collections in Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Japan, USA, Taiwan.
