On February 17, the Gallery of Siberian Art (Karl Marx Street, 23) opens a new exhibition of the long-term project “To Remember…” in memory of Irkutsk artists of different generations who left a bright and significant mark on the fine arts of the Angara region. This year, the museum will present the work of eight artists whose birthdays have passed from 60 to 100 years. The exposition is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Irkutsk branch of the Union of Artists of Russia and is the first event in a series of events dedicated to the anniversary date.
The curatorial exhibition project of the art historian Tamara Dranitsa “To Remember…” has existed for more than ten years and aims to show the general history of the development of the fine arts of the Irkutsk region through the work of departed artists. The authors-anniversaries of this year are Evgeny Shpirko (100 years old), Arkady Guterzon (100 years old), Vladimir Tetenkin (95 years old), Svetlana Garashchuk (80 years old), Lyubov Imshenetskaya (75 years old), Stanislav Lozinskaya (75 years old), Sergey Nazarov (70 years old), Igor Solovyov (60 years old).
The exposition presents about 50 works of painting, graphics and arts and crafts. Among them are psychologically authentic portraits, lyrical and symbolic images of nature, ceramics saturated with associations, which captivate with high craftsmanship. The works of Irkutsk artists from the museum’s collection presented at the exhibition are marked by high artistic merit, depth of ideological and figurative content and high humanistic pathos.
