The exhibition "Four Books" of Izhevsk artists Envil Kasimov and Sergey Orlov.
At the exhibition, each artist will present two series of works that make up the “four books” - this refers to the main idea of artists that their works are certain messages that the viewer can read at different levels - from tactile to symbolic.
Envil Kasimov covers his canvases with birch and fish skin, Sergey Orlov uses clay and a clean texture of wood. The appeal to natural materials is explained by the proximity of local art and Udmurt traditional culture, and here we are not even talking about applied elements and traditional aesthetics, but about the attitude to art as the primary act of creation. Artists assume the role of a mediator in conveying images and meanings, and an attentive viewer will be able to "read" the messages of these works through universal symbolism and personal mythology of artists.
Envil Kasimov (b. 1961) - Izhevsk artist, politician, poet, journalist. In addition to his own creative activity, he takes an active position in supporting and promoting local contemporary art, is the initiator, organizer and producer of many projects and festivals.
Sergey Orlov (b. 1957) - Udmurt artist, professor of painting at Udmurt State University. Member of many solo and group exhibitions, one of the ideologists of "Ethnofuturism" in Udmurtia. He led his own Experimental Workshop of Modern Painting, and educated entire generations of Izhevsk artists.
