On December 15, an exhibition of carved paper compositions by students of the Sevastopol Art School will open in the Yevpatoria gallery of contemporary art “theHARASHO” of the International Center for Theater Arts “Golden Key”.
The exhibition includes 50 works by children aged 10 to 16 years.
Sevastopol Art School was founded in 1961. Today it is a small, clean and sunny island where you are taught to see the beautiful, dream and fantasize, listen to each other, think about life, read wonderful books. Great pedagogical skill and intuition are required to recognize the individuality of the student and, without suppressing it, to give professional skills to everyone. The current teachers of the school, led by the director Alexander Burtsev, are engaged in this difficult task.
Burtsev says that the school’s New Year decoration, as well as related projects, are launched at the beginning of the year: the teaching staff approves the priority theme with an eye on the masquerade, and all classes actively develop it. Children study Christian and Slavic mythology, works of A.S. Pushkin and A.S. Green, fairy tales by G.Kh. Andersen and S. Perrault. The most successful paintings and graphic works, as well as monumental panels are shown in classes on the walls, paper plastic under the ceiling and in the windows.
- Before the New Year, we always decorate the windows of the school with carved paper compositions. - says Alexander Burtsev. - It is very beautiful: at night they work in the light, and it looks like elegant openwork graphics on a gold background of glowing windows, and during the day they become white lace, like magical frosty patterns.
This year, the best compositions dedicated to the theater and the New Year will be presented in Yevpatoria, in theHARASHO gallery. The inspiration for the students of the school was from world-famous plays and fairy tales, as well as the performances that they watched in Sevastopol theaters immediately before starting work.
- The works that our school will present in the Yevpatoriya gallery are 100% child labor. They drew inspiration from various sources. Both from literature and from the theater. Created their own images. - says Alexander Nikolaevich. - I will say that it was not easy for them. When dealing with paper plastics, it’s hard to calculate everything exactly. Someone can take a couple of hours to work, and someone needs more than one day. It all depends on experience, complexity and the number of elements.
The exhibition will open on the eve of the premiere of the New Year’s musical show "Thumbelina" of the Children’s Theater "Golden Key" and the Youth Theater "Studio 22". More than 5,000 thousand children from all over Crimea will get acquainted with the work of students of the Sevastopol Art School.
- Each meeting with the audience is always a joyful and responsible event. We hope that the exhibition will be liked and remembered by children and adults, and this holiday will remain in their hearts for a long time. - says Alexander Burtsev.
