From June 9, a personal EXHIBITION by Belgian artist Ben Heine “PENCIL AGAINST THE CAMERA” will begin to work
Ben Heine is a modern Belgian artist, known for works in which masterfully combined photography and drawing. Using graphic images, Ben complements reality: the artist adds fairy-tale characters, funny details to photos, turns the city into a computer game and shows familiar things from an unusual perspective.
The highlight of the project is that the visualization master himself is not averse to penetrating the “inside” of virtual reality, at least looking at the pictures, this is the impression that is being created. In all his works, Ben Heine demonstrates his ability to blur the line between the drawn image and the existing reality. Sketchy pencil sketches can look so organically against the background of color photographs that viewers perceive them as an integral part of the image, and 3D-drawings do look like a parallel world. The pencil part is highlighted and located on special racks, visitors themselves combine drawing and photography.
The exhibition will feature Ben’s photographs with stories of their creation, as well as voluminous installations based on the author’s works. The exposition is divided into thematic zones: “city”, “zoo” and “life of wonderful people”, as well as a photo studio and space for lectures and master classes.
The exhibition is suitable for publication with a family: a special program will be organized for young visitors. During the exposition, workshops will be held on spontaneous drawing, creating photo collages and drawing in the technique of augmented photography for children and adults.
Due to the novelty, unusualness and, at the same time, the simplicity of the idea itself, the work of Ben Hain had a huge impact on the community of artists working in the field of graphic design. Exhibitions of his works are held in Belgium, Great Britain, Romania, France, Canada, USA, Germany, Brazil, Spain and Palestine.
