The exhibition of the artist Artyom Goloshchapov “The Caretakers for the Bearer” will open on March 6 at the start of the young art START Center for Contemporary Art Winery. The project explores the images of the main characters of post-Soviet cinema. The exposition is represented by a three-part video, with the techniques of a video collage and desktop movie.
The video project of the artist Artyom Goloshchapov is devoted to the study of the key heroes of mass cinema of the last thirty years - heroes of a semi-marginal and semi-criminal nature. These images are the main archetypes of self-consciousness of the post-Soviet period.
The author of the project asks about the existence of examples of good heroes during this period that the modern generation could focus on. The exhibition exposition is divided into three parts.
Vera Trakhtenberg, curator: “Artem Goloshchapov creates a video epic that raises important questions of Russian mass culture: how did the image of the hero evolve in post-Soviet cinema? Who are they, our idols today? Do they exist at all? In the method of the disassembled narrative, which Artyom refers to, he not only detects a special “materiality” for video art, but also experiments with viewing conditions, playing out the name of the exhibition. ”
Artem Goloshchapov, artist: “The video builds the image of a positive hero who is acting right now, in Moscow in 2018. It seems to me that action in the present tense is already a luxury in itself, because today positive heroes are usually sought in the images of war or the long-held Olympiad. I turn to the morphology of the heroic, sorting out various idols of the recent past, hoping - no, no, and it will do. Including, because I myself am nostalgic - there was a time when those from the posters looked at you whom you could follow. There was a time when we were not nostalgic. ”
