The Art-Lobster-Tart exhibition is dedicated to the relationship between the artist and the environment, and the main purpose of the exhibition is to hear the voice of the young generation of artists and curators. The project addresses the issues of artistic autonomy and reviews the communication mechanisms between the artist and the art community. The main topics of the exhibition are irony as a tool for understanding everyday life, as well as the search for the boundaries of illusions and metaphors.
The name of the exhibition refers to the work of Sofia Astashova, a poetic series in which the tendencies of contemporary art life are accurately and capaciously reflected. The total installation of Kristina Tsian offers young artists “wait for their turn”, and the board game by Anna Sopova, Antanas Yatsinevichyus and Ivan Isaev shows a vicious circle for everyone who would like to take part in the art world. The installation of the Polish artist Peter Mahi demonstrates the futility of private efforts in front of the art market. Elizaveta Konovalova transfers traces of human-city interaction into the gallery space, exploring new opportunities for artistic experience. Yekaterina Isaeva, reflecting on the bureaucratic routine, involves the viewer in the process of meaningless copying of information. In the work of Natalia Monakhova, the everyday life of a human artist broke into the work of a human artist about “everyday life”.
The works of 21 artists from Russia and Europe, working in different media, including hybrid ones, are shown. The exhibition brings together graduates and students of schools of contemporary art in Russia and abroad - the Free Workshops School of Contemporary Art and the Rodchenko School, Baza, IISP, Poznan University of the Arts (UAP), and the Higher School of Fine Arts in Paris (Beaux-Arts de Paris).
