Exhibition of Anna Guseva in the Zeppelin Gallery in the Novinsky Trade Center Automatic translate
From February 13 to February 27, the first solo exhibition of the artist Anna Guseva “The Goose / The Goose” will be held at the Zeppelin Gallery in the Novinsky Trade Center. Bright, joyful and energetic geese - the harbingers of spring, will save Muscovites from cold and dullness, give a piece of the sun on the eve of Valentine’s Day.
The Goose exhibition is an artist’s reflections on pop art as a principle. Anna Guseva’s maneuvering space opens up with a goose’s visual motif, beating the artist’s name and passing through almost all of her paintings and graphic works. In the stylized goose figure, made in different techniques, the artist’s allusion flavored with irony is read in search of her own manner and individual style. A simple, seemingly form (goose silhouette) becomes a canvas, a field for experimenting with color, technique, patterns, etc. She highlights the boundaries of the experiment. For example, stylistic - the goose acquires features of abstraction, decorativeness, sign. The goose’s transformation from work to work is like trying on various formal solutions and, at the same time, a kaleidoscope of direct and veiled quotes from the art history of the second half of the 20th century - from Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Andy Warhol to “New Wilds” and “psychedelic pop art” Takashi Murakami.
But all this without undue seriousness, the Goose is the starting point, the embodiment of the muse that lives in the artist himself.
INDIVIDUAL CODE
The connection with the name of the artist is not just a game. This connection turns the goose into a kind of talisman, the author’s protective device; adaptation, an instrument on the path of self-knowledge and self-development in art.
The surname became an occasion to appeal to the image of a goose, and he gave birth to all that heap of cultural associations, which were discussed above. The goose, of course, is not an alter ego, but, in a sense, is the “avatar” of the artist, behind which the personality, individuality of the author is hiding where he cannot openly attend or does not seek.
Anna Guseva: “I do not draw anything - I create geese! I do not depict anything that I see around. This is a lot for me and so. My consciousness needs to create objects. Geese on canvas, on cardboard, iron, wood, in the form of a sculpture, in a book, everywhere… Each bird is not just a picture, it is my feeling of the current moment! ”
“I create Geese… Over the past three years of my life I’ve been doing it with great passion and some success - the 5th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, the Belgian Art Cocktail at the National Exhibition Center in Bruges, the exhibition“ Urban Metamorphoses. Warming Moscow ”on the Kuznetsk Bridge and even entry into the Creative Union of Artists of Russia.
All this time, geese constantly wandered from canvases to pillows, curtains, various textiles, souvenirs, were sold at fairs, design exhibitions, which at some point led me to create a small brand with the same name “GUSEVAART”. At this stage, the birds, it seems to me, have reached the finish line and plan to debut in two categories:
The first is the publication of a publication called "Goosevakniga" - a kind of coffe table art book, which is designed to distribute the goose to the masses through illustrations on nice pages of the catalog.
The second is a personal exhibition in the Moscow Zeppelin Gallery.
After which, I have not decided yet whether I will continue to draw geese, or if I go over to the penguins.
But it is very important that now these birds are the main theme of my work and proudly step further straight into the collaboration with the Italian brand of glasses Italia Independent. I know for sure that it will be cosmicly bright. Continuation of goose adventures follows! "
