Andrei Kimovich Esionov is a recognized Russian artist whose solo exhibitions were held in St. Petersburg (at the Russian Museum), in Moscow (at the Academy of Arts and at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art), in Samara (at the Samara Museum of Art) and repeatedly in Europe.
The future artist was born and raised in Tashkent; in 1981 he graduated from art school as a graphic artist, in 1990 - the painting department of the Tashkent State Theater and Art Institute. A. N. Ostrovsky. Already his first independent work immediately attracted attention, but the creative start of Andrei Yesionov was pushed back by circumstances for two whole decades.
The works presented at the exhibition are made in the watercolor technique, a technique that is fundamentally quiet, even sacred. Watercolors performed by the artist, with all due respect to form and tradition, his readiness for dialogue with her, is the medium of contemporary art. The artist’s works are conceptually integral. For genre scenes, portrait and typical characteristics, acutely captured by natural situations, an important meaningful attitude, an aggravated sense of the passage of time, are felt. Large-scale multi-figure paintings by Andrei Yesionov are distinguished by their complexity: narration is combined with allegory - allegory, biblical themes - with historical ones.
In the portrait genre, the intellectual scale of the personality is important for the artist. The heroes of his portraits are Vladimir Voinovich, Pyotr Todorovsky, Anatoly Karpov, Eldar Ryazanov.
On trips to Europe and the Middle East, he creates genre pictures, writes seemingly textbook specific situations, but he knows how to do what is depicted as a “picturesque incident” in which his life is warm, and it is interesting, like any life. Esionov, a watercolorist, is able to convey the impression of what he saw, for example, the relationship between couples, painted with personal, age, ethnic specificity. Or manifestations of tiredness of an old man, a tourist, a homeless person. Or the internal connection between the owner and the horse in the wonderful series Horse Riding. Or the dynamics of urban life in Snowden’s Dreams. There is no place for alienation in the artist’s watercolors, it is a world of presence. Expressing alarm in many of his things about human attempts to escape into virtual reality, Andrei Yesionov appreciates the world of direct communication.
Watercolor - with all the variety of genre tasks - is a means to maintain a balance of thoughtful and "observed." Watercolor, figuratively speaking, helps to "hold onto the earth" - to maintain the immediacy and relevance of the perception of the world. Outwardly artless, as if unassumingly full-scale, mobile, mobile watercolors by Andrei Yesionov reveal important aspects of modern life.
Andrei Kimovich Esionov was awarded the RAX and TSHR awards, is a laureate and winner of several prestigious international art festivals. Yesinov is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Creative Union of Russian Artists, VTOO "Union of Russian Artists", the Moscow Union of Artists of the International Art Fund.
