The works on canvas, made in the author’s technique, are her improvisation, the rhythm and colors of which teach you to surrender and follow your inner fantasies. The artist invites the viewer to feel, to know the essential elements of her works through color, layers of various materials, signs and symbols.

A. Gritsmane’s painting is based on the interaction of colors. By using different shades and layering them on top of each other, she tries to see what kind of atmosphere they can create. Layers, light, as well as a combination of disparate elements and color areas form a special world depicted by A. Gritsmane, which goes beyond the usual and ordinary.

A special role in the artistic searches of A. Gritsmane is played by the personality of M. Chagall. In 2020, the exhibition "Colors of Marc Chagall’s Music" was held in Riga at the "Museum of the Riga Ghetto". The works presented today at the KMII reveal the close ideological connection of the author with the world-famous artist, as well as his inspiration from music. In the summer of 2018, Anze Gritsmane took part in the IV International Marc Chagall Painting Symposium, which was organized by the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk.

Ance Gritsmane (1987, Talsi, Latvia) graduated from the Latvian Christian Academy in 2010, received a master’s degree in painting from the Latvian Academy of Arts in 2013 and devoted her thesis to contemporary sacred art. She was engaged in research work at the Universities of Greifswald and Tartu, studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), attended open lectures at the School of Contemporary Art in Frankfurt am Main (Staedelschule, Germany). At the international scientific and artistic conference RIXC Open Fields, she gave a lecture on synesthesia - "sound vision" and the phenomenon of "unity of feelings". Since 2019, Ance has been an assistant professor at the Higher School of Economics and Culture in Riga, she is also the founder of the social enterprise Emotion LAB, within which she is engaged in Art therapy.
