The exhibition “Freedom to Create” will present visitors the works of two Petersburg artists - Anastasia Savoini and Vyacheslav Panichev. The exposition will include about 150 works.
Each of the authors is characterized by an individual manner, their own artistic style, but they are united by the search for new solutions in work on color plastic. Perhaps that is why their work is consonant and harmoniously coexist with each other.
“To create form is mastery. To extrude it, to bring it to metaphysics, to space, to breathing. The forms are not just a character and a copy of the realistic world, but also express a certain firmness of spirit and burning of the artist’s soul ”- this is how Savoini and Panichev formulate the principles of their work.
The authors are not looking for any philosophy, but rush deep into their souls, looking around the world, begin to create in complete freedom. Create a form based on the simple laws of the universe. Freely manipulate form, color and plastic, seeking to express infinity.
“Anastasia Savoini is immersed in a formal search, but her form is always emotionally experienced and acquires a figurative, metaphorical meaning. There is no illusion, but there is a light-air medium. Laconicism and generalization, geometric shapes are characteristic. A minimum of fine, avaricious, chopped drawing. Landscapes, estranged from everyday life, a luminous city as a plastic idea, as a reality, turned into a dream. The city is lively with passers-by, lonely figures, pulling together and concentrating the canvas. Landscapes by Savoini are often painted in the same breath in the open air, in the gathering twilight, so the houses are slightly deformed, the streets emerge from the darkness like a silver mirage.
Vyacheslav Panichev transfers graphic methods to painting, putting the sharpness of a picture into a relief paste of paint, drawing directly from a tube, she writes textured on canvas on top of the painting layer. The work is extremely powerful, as if carved from stone composition. Vertical and horizontal lines are revealed, rectangular shapes are present: cubes of houses, street lines, verticals of trees. They give stability, constructive coherence of the composition.
The artist rarely draws from nature, mainly from memory, from the impression of the landscape, from memory. From this, sharp, distinctive compositions are obtained: for example, the usual horizon of the foreground is combined with an overestimated background. ”
