On May 21, 2021, the Alterglobalism exhibition will open in the Belyaevo gallery of the Moscow Exhibition Halls Association, an international multidisciplinary project that explores topical world problems by means of contemporary art.

Alterglobalism is an aggregate definition of a whole spectrum of actively developing social movements that advocate global cooperation, but at the same time are characterized by a critical position in relation to postcolonial politics, an interest in local cultures and a rethinking of the concepts of justice and cooperation.

The exhibition is an attempt at a joint creative search for new images and forms of social relations in the global world. This project will bring together contemporary art, philosophy and social research. The presented works touch upon the themes of international cultural dialogue, migration and economic inequality, intersectionality as a movement against various forms of oppression and discrimination, regional experience and local cultural identities, digital communication experience and ecoactivism.

More than 40 artists from Russia, China, Costa Rica, Mexico, Great Britain, Italy, Germany and the USA will take part in the exhibition. Among artists from Russia, the exhibition will feature works by Alexei Dyakov, Yuri Meleksetyan, Varvara Grankova, Olga Tumanova, Ivan Balashov, Alexander Sokolov and others.
