The exposition contains more than 60 works filled with a Buddhist attitude, a special national color based on knowledge of color symbols, traditions of mural painting, and motifs of folk Buryat art.
Alexander Gunsenov was born in Buryatia in a large family. As a child, he often visited a village where the traditional way of life was preserved. Buryat national culture had a great influence on the formation of the artist’s views. He graduated from the art and graphic department of the Ulan-Ude Pedagogical School, then the Irkutsk School of Arts and the Far Eastern Institute of Arts in 1989. The artist lives and works in Vladivostok. The works of Alexander Gunsenov are in the collections of museums in Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Vladivostok, in private collections in China, Japan, South Korea, Holland, and the USA.
“Step from the East” is a synthesis of the traditions of the national Buryat art and the Russian school of painting, rooted in the Far East.
