May 16 at 16.00 in the Estate V.P. Sukachev (112 December Events Street) opens the exhibition "Days of Young May" to the 90th anniversary of the Angarsk artist Albert Kuss (1928–2003). The exposition presents more than 40 paintings by the master of the lyrical landscape.
The artist’s creative career began in the second half of the 50s, during the time of large Komsomol construction projects. However, Albert Kuss was not particularly admired by the industrial victories of mankind, he never changed the once chosen theme - the Siberian landscape. Using the artistic principles of the “severe style” common in those years, he created philosophical, dramatic, lyrical images of nature.
“Kuss’s writing technique is individual, his pasty painting is remembered forever. Landscapes of the master amaze with almost physical heaviness, color density and emotional richness. In some works, the use of various textured materials, such as sand or bronze powder, which were mixed with oil paints, is clearly visible. Usually the artist painted on rough canvases and pulling soils, applying a fairly large layer of paint. But among his works there are also more “subtle” landscapes in which the artist refers to the traditions of Russian realistic painting, ”says Olga Novokrestchennykh, curator of the exhibition, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, about the artist’s work.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on May 16 at 16.00 in the Estate of V.P. Sukachev (112 December Events Street). The exposition will run until June 3. Entrance to the opening is free. Phone for inquiries: 53-12-24.
