From March 10 to 20, 2017 in the Hall of Fine Arts of the Volga branch of the Russian Academy of Arts, Moscow, Lavrushinsky 15, a personal exhibition "Watercolor stories" of the artist, member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia Elena Yaroslavtseva, takes place.
Elena Yaroslavtseva - a graduate of MVHPU im. Stroganova, working in the field of architecture and interior (wall paintings and stained glass), as well as in book illustrations, took part in TSHR exhibitions as a member of the union, exhibitions of the Federation of Watercolor Painting and collections of the Stroganov Traditions.
According to the artist herself, "Watercolor is both graphics and painting." It is difficult to disagree with this, having seen her impressionistic visions - whether reality, or a dream, or fantasies that lead the viewer into the beautiful unconscious… Elena prefers to work in the open air - does it mean that “reality”?
From a professional point of view, we can talk about etude as a creative manner, besides mastering the various techniques of watercolor painting. True, the palette of individual works performed in rich, rich, dark colors is somewhat surprising, which often excludes the ease of the usual graphics for this type of graphics. But why is such a choice important to the author, where does this preference come from? Of course, watercolor is different, like any art. 60 works created over 30 years. This kind of "report on the work done", which, in fact, are any personal exhibitions, is intended to demonstrate the skill of the author with the maximum range.
And besides such rational arguments, the “heavy” watercolor attracts attention with its peculiarity, as if we suddenly faced a completely different world, already seen somewhere somewhere, but unnoticed by us in reality and therefore forgotten. In these works, he responds with the distant echo of a fabulous creature that has retained its individuality, or lurks until the time of memory, which has found its embodiment in art…
And in the deliberate incompleteness of the etude, it is not just the “impression” that is embodied (if we are talking about impressionism), the focus of what is happening here is concentrated: how shaky and direct this reality is, how much poetic lyrics in an elusive moment, as if accidentally stopped by the hand of the creator! The unobtrusiveness of his view of the reflected world has an amazing and rare quality - intelligence: it would seem that everything is simple and probably understandable, but there remains an elusive and indestructible secret in everything that we are allowed to touch, but cannot get inside…
