February 21 in Gallery A3 of the Association “Exhibition Halls of Moscow” will open a group exhibition dedicated to one of the most striking associations of artists - the “Wheel” group.

The name of the association arose as a kind of multi-valued symbol of culture, suggesting constant creative development. The association was created in late 1984. The first exhibition of its participants took place in 1986, but the initial impulse of this movement originates in the distant sixties. When a rather tough confrontation took place between official art and the underground. A circle of artists stood out who turned out to be there, realizing the “third direction” in culture.

The group did not have a clearly defined aesthetic program: rather, a general recognition of the sacredness of artistic action, appeal to natural colors and rhythms, conjugation of external vision with internal, spontaneous search for new semiotic possibilities of a pictorial language.

During the creative work of the association, more than forty artists participated in the exhibition activities of the group.

The exhibition will feature unique woodcuts, scenic still lifes and landscapes, portraits and sculptures.
