On July 14, the Siberian Art Gallery opens a personal exhibition "Following thought and feeling" by the famous Irkutsk painter Dmitry Lysyakov. The exposition presents about fifty paintings created by the author over the past three decades.
Dmitry Lysyakov, originally from Astrakhan, began to show interest in painting in childhood. He studied at the Birobidzhan Art School. After moving to Irkutsk, he studied at the Art College (now the Irkutsk Regional Art College named after I. L. Kopylov). In 1986 he graduated from the Irkutsk College of Arts. Since 2005 - Member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Participant of numerous exhibitions. The master’s works are in private collections in Russia, the USA, Europe, Australia, Japan, Korea and in the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum.
The artist organically combines several diverse genres in his work: portrait, landscape and still life. A rarity is Dmitry Lysyakov’s commitment to classical realistic painting, to Russian classics, the style of which was formed at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, to the classics of Valentin Serov and Konstantin Korovin, enriched with a personal, well-recognized artistic style. The direction of realism, which Dmitry Pavlovich adheres to in his works, reveals the true beauty of the world around him. The author loves and knows how to work from nature. Throughout his life, he remains faithful to the technique of oil painting and reaches significant heights in this direction.
The artist himself speaks about his favorite genre - etudes: “Landscape etude is like playing from sight. It is necessary to have time to reflect the fleeting elusive state spilled around. It is uncontrollable, volatile, and the result on the canvas is just as unpredictable. You cannot repeat this amazing breath of air, the complex color of the sky, the play of flowing water. You cannot repeat your impression, which is consonant with the mood of nature. Everything is alive in sketches, everything is true there. It’s like a lie detector. Nature does not allow false.
The exposition presents works from the artist’s studio, from private collections, from the funds of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V. P. Sukachev. Self-portraits stand out in the museum’s collection.
This genre of painting is always a dialogue between the artist and the world, a way of introspection, and a reflection of the key moments of the biography. In the works of Dmitry Lysyakov, dialogue always comes to the fore. If you mentally imagine that all his self-portraits are lined up in one row, outside of temporal gradations, then the viewer will suddenly find himself involved in a strange experiment of mutual emotional penetration: the longer you look into the artist’s face, the more you feel how he scans you from the canvas with his eyes, meticulously evaluating your artistic sensibility.
The indicated end date of the exhibition is approximate.
