The Vadim Sidur Museum and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art present a new Digital Object Alliance* (DOA) exhibition, “Eight of a Bee: Something Warm in You**.” In its project, DOA traces how, over time, new types of camouflage shells are created and existing human defense mechanisms are changed.
The exhibition’s title refers to a biological term used in beekeeping that refers to one of the ways bees communicate information through the figure-eight dance. This serves as a metaphor for the complex changes in behavior that occur in response to changes in the external environment.
The spatial installation reproduces the types and properties of disguises and models the hybrid physicality of a person. The created objects are a series of assemblages: fragments of found or donated things, archival chronicles of news and personal events, presented in video essay format.
Digital Object Alliance* (Anna Leonova, b. 1992) – artist. Works around an expanded concept of the digital body, its social and political aspects. The concept of the artist’s artistic practice is based on her entering into an alliance with digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and the environment. DOA’s core tools are artistic research, digital performance, and event design. In her practice she is interested in the affects of mass culture, global underground movements, as well as the physicality of sound.
