Our theater, together with the whole city, was going through difficult war years, without stopping work even in the most difficult times. During the war years, he staged a number of new performances. In 1941, the troupe of the State Drama Theater was evacuated to Syzran, and later returned to Voronezh. The Koltsov Theater was the only one in the country that returned to the front-line city and worked under bombing until the last opportunity. On the night of June 27-28, 1942, as a result of a massive raid by enemy aircraft on Voronezh, the building of the Voronezh Theater was destroyed. The troupe left for the city of Kopeisk.

In 1944, the theater building was restored, and for the first time in the liberated city, spectators came to the play…
