In the gallery "On Shabolovka" opens the photo exhibition "Around the 20th century is buzzing around me." The exhibition will feature 80 reportage photographs covering the period from 1909 to the 1970s. Visitors will see photos of family members of the last emperor of Russia, revolutionaries, street children, working youth of construction sites of the 30s; shots taken during the Great Patriotic War, holidays and everyday life of Russians during the “thaw” period, portraits of the country’s heroes and much more. The exposition also included retrospective photographs unknown to the general public, which were stored in the TASS archive for many years.
Visitors to the gallery will be able to get acquainted with the works of Fyodor Kislov, Evgeny Chaldey, Oleg Knorring, Emanuel Evzerikhin, Sigismund Kropyvnytsky, Vladimir Musaelyan and other domestic photojournalists, whose skill and work ensured TASS worldwide fame and recognition.
Many of the works presented at the exhibition add new touches to their creative portrait. At one of the post-war works of Vasily Egorov (1957) - Marshal Georgy Zhukov on an elephant during a visit to India. Sophia Loren caught the camera lens of Valery Gende-Rote in the conference hall of the USSR Supreme Council (1965), and Yuri Gagarin captured the shot of Vasily Turbin visiting Mikhail Sholokhov in the village of Veshenskaya (1967).
A significant part of the photo exhibition was prepared with the assistance of the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents, which stores the archives of TASS Photochronicles.
The opening took place in November 2014 at the Center for Photography. Lumiere brothers, after which the exhibition went on a big tour and will be presented in more than twenty exhibition halls in Moscow, which included the gallery on the Shabolovka.
