Visionary Art attracts the attention of both creators and viewers around the world. Its popularity is so wide that this style can rightfully be considered a new global phenomenon. Despite the modern-sounding name, it reflects the artist’s initial interest in the inner world, where fantasy, not reality, becomes a source of creativity. Art is always an attempt to look inside oneself, to know oneself, one’s own place, in a sense “to draw a soul”.
Vigenieri Art is a path of feelings, not of reason. A spontaneous image of the author’s inner world, fantastic worlds and creatures, not controlled by will or by some plan or plan. The development of this style goes along with the spread of oriental spiritual practices (for example, yoga), the technique of penetrating the depths of the subconscious, interest in the pagan and preliterate past of peoples.
According to the French artist L. Caruana (Laurence Caruana), Vigenari Art is what art, myth and dreams merge into. Like ancient writings, this is a lost language, which everyone has to decipher alone. The visionary artist uses all means available to him to show what is beyond the scope of his vision. In fact, he draws that which is invisible. The source of experience for the artist is dreams, a state of trance, insanity, meditation. Some visionary artists consciously resort to the use of entheogens (substances to achieve an altered state of consciousness), aware of their danger to themselves. But at the moment, this practice is not generally accepted.
One cannot fail to note the virtuoso skill and technical excellence of the Vizhenari Art masters. True Vizhenari Art is the highest level of professionalism, mastery of pictorial techniques and tradition.
The general idea of Vizhenari Art artists is their attitude to painting as an instrument through which the “internal landscape” is reflected (Martina Hoffman), thus art becomes not a goal, but a means on the path to self-knowledge, self-improvement. Pictures are some portals, “which will open endless possibilities of existence and self-expression. Thanks to them, we will remember and rediscover our past, who we are, where our life began and where we are going ”(Amanda Sage).
Artists preach the unity of mankind, the desire to feel it as a family, which means to realize their common responsibility for its future.
The brightest representatives of Vigenari Art:
Alex Gray, Allyson Gray, Andrew Gonzalez, Brigid Marlin, Olga Shpiegel, Olga Kuba Ambrose, Oleg Korolev Oleg, Amanda Sage (Amanda Sage), Martina Hoffmann, Daniel Mirante, Aloria Weaver, David Heskin, Philip Rubinov Jacobson, Viktor Safonkin, Agostino Arrivabene. Natives of different countries, they all started at the Vienna Academy of Fantastic Realism Ernst Fuchs, who is considered the founding father of Vigenari Art.
In Russian art, the forerunners of Vigenari Art were the works of Mikhail Vrubel (1856-1910), Nikolai Roerich (1874-1947) and Nikolai Kolmakov (1873-1955).
SECTIONS-NOMINATIONS
The international exhibition of visionary art in 2018 includes the following sections:
Vigenari Art
Works made in the artistic style of Vizhenari Art, which is based on a spontaneous image of what is seen in an altered state of consciousness, religious, meditative contemplation, trance, and flashbacks arising in an altered state of consciousness, characterized by a different perception and an intense process of awareness.
The true nature and essence of art in the style of Visionary Art was discovered by one of the creators of the theory of the noosphere and the modern theory of cosmic evolution, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: “We are not people who sometimes experience spiritual experience, but spiritual beings who experience the experience of human existence. "
The following sections of the exhibition are NOT Vigenari art directions, but together they form close and interpenetrating trends in contemporary art and therefore are included in the exhibition:
Mystical Symbolism
Mystical symbolism is an artistic reflection of religious teachings, philosophical works, the understatement and ambiguity of plots and their interpretations. The image is not a concrete image, but statements (even a scream) of the soul, mood, experience, impression. The supremacy of emotional experience as the creator of the creation, and the viewer.
Cosmism
Cosmism is a person and humanity as elements connected in a single whole with the cosmos, other worlds and dimensions, unknown states of matter. The interpenetration and coexistence of realities, the beauty of alien worlds. Abstract categories and concepts as a topic for creative expression: spiritual search, the passage of time, thought and its movements.
Fantastic realism
Fantastic realism - as a forerunner of Vigenari Art, a combination of a realistic style of painting, pithiness and fantastic motives, the author’s ideas about phenomena outside of sensory experience.
Magical realism
Magical realism is a combination of a realistic picture of the world and magical elements, a game with vision. The combination of photographic accuracy and paradox.
